Wellness Exams

Cat & Dog Wellness Exams

Routine exams from our vets at NorthWest Animal Hospital focus on preventive care. These routine exams help ensure your pet is in good health.

General Condition

Your pet's general demeanour and physical condition can provide clues to their overall health. How they stand and walk, their level of alertness, and whether they are a healthy weight for their size are all important indicators of overall health.

Puppies & Kittens

We'll give your new best friend a complete physical examination, appropriate immunizations, and deworming medication. We will also test for intestinal parasites. You'll be provided with a puppy or kitten kit filled with educational material and samples to help you care for the newest member of your family.

Seniors

With recent advances in veterinary medical knowledge and care, as well as newer therapies and better nutrition, senior pets are living longer than ever.

Wellness Exam

Physical Health Assessment

Veterinarians use wellness exams to ensure that animals are up to date on vaccinations and preventative medications, such as flea and tick control, heartworm prevention, and deworming. These measures protect animals from a variety of diseases and parasites.

Dental Care

Oral health is a crucial aspect of an animal’s overall wellness. During wellness exams, veterinarians assess the condition of the animal’s teeth and gums. They can recommend dental cleanings and advise on home dental care to prevent dental diseases that can affect an animal’s well-being.

Nutritional Assessment

A wellness exam is an opportunity for veterinarians to discuss an animal’s behavior, dietary needs, and overall lifestyle. They can provide guidance on nutrition, exercise, and behavior management to ensure the animal’s mental and emotional well-being.

Parasite Control and Testing

Wellness exams provide an opportunity for veterinarians to check for parasites and perform necessary tests. This includes assessing for internal parasites like intestinal worms and external parasites like fleas and ticks. Early detection and treatment of parasites are crucial to prevent discomfort and more severe health issues in animals.
